Other Information

Like geckos we also could not find different names for different species of dragons. Most can be referred to as the group names for ''Dragon'' in each language.

In South East Arnhem Land there are three main types of dragons: two-lined dragons, Gilbert's dragons and the frilled-neck lizard.

It can defend itself by running very fast and swimming underwater to escape from predators.

What Its Look Like

Snout-vent length: 100mm; Tail length: approx. 300% of SVL

Broad pale stripe from the tip of the snout along the upper jaw to the side of the neck. Crest of spikes along neck in adult males. Gular scales are smooth but the rest of the ventral (underneath body) scales are strongly keeled.

Swampland Lashtails and Gilbert's Dragons look similar. They are the same size and both have wide white stripes along the jaw. You can tell them apart as the Swamplands Lashtail has scales along the top of its body that run alongside the spine, whereas the Gilbert's Dragon's run diagonally to the spine.
