Where It Lives (habitat)

Their preferred habitat is dark and quiet waters, with submerged logs, thick overhanging vegetation, or caves. They are nocturnal species.

Sleepy cods are carnivorous, they eat fish, small insects and crustaceans.

How Many Babies (breeding)

They begin to breed when the minimum temperature is at 24°C over three days. They breed more in the wet season.

What It Looks Like

Body size: 450mm

Sleepy cod is a slow-moving fish, it is grey with a pale whitish belly. Flat head; two dorsal fins; round tail.
