Where It Lives (habitat)

It is commonly found in freshwater, estuarine and brackish mangrove waters.

What It Eats (diet)

Archer fish can shoot a jet of water up to 150cm above surface to knock out insects sitting on plants above water and preys on them.

They eat plants and aquatic insects.

How Many Babies (breeding)

They begin to breed in wet season where there are rising levels of water in rivers and lakes.

What It Looks Like

Body size: up to 40cm long

Its scales are in shiny silver with black spots on the body. Moderately laterally compressed.
